1.让学生通过课前收集万圣节的资料和本课学习,进一步激发学生学习英语的兴趣。

  2. 教师准备:多媒体课件、课文A的挂图、录音机、磁带、准备几个面具(老虎、狗等),单词卡片,教具a pumpkin lantern

Step 1  Free talk
1. T: Let’s sing a song. “We can sing and dance ”together.
  Ss:Sing the song.
2. T: Do you know what day is June 1st?(Children’s Day)

What day is Sept. 10th?(Teachers’Day)
What about October 31st?(Halloween)

Ss:Learn:“Halloween”
Step 2 Presentation
1. T: Halloween falls on the night of Oct. 31st and it gives us a perfect opportunity to have great fun!
    Do you know the origin of Halloween?
  Ss:(自由发言)
万圣节的由来: 二千多年前, 塞尔特族人(即目前的苏格兰人、爱尔兰人等) 一年之中最害怕的日子莫过于十月三十一日的晚上. 每年十月三十一日的前夕是塞尔特族人的年度丰收祭典, 象征着一年的結束, 以及新一年的开始! 每年的这一天是塞尔特族人表达他們对太阳神的敬意的一天, 因为太阳神让他們的谷物丰收, 以应付即將到来的冬天! 可是在这一个夜晚也是恶灵力量最強大的一天, 因此塞尔特族的牧师和祭司也会主持祭典, 安抚掌管死亡的神!

T:(总结)So it celebrates autumn harvest and it’s also a ceremony of the dead.

2. T:(Show an object.)Excuse me. What’s this in English?

S: It’s a pumpkin lantern.

T: (Show an object.)Look, it’s a pumpkin.

Ss: Learn:“pumpkin”)

T: What’s in the pumpkin? There’s a candle.

Ss: Learn:“candle”

T: We can use them to make a pumpkin lantern.

Ss: Learn: “lantern” “pumpkin lantern”)

T:(Introduce)
至于南瓜灯也至少有两种说法。一种说是人挖空了南瓜又刻上鬼脸,点上烛火以驱散鬼魂的;另一种说是鬼魂点上烛火,试图骗取人们上当而跟着鬼魂走,所以人们就在南瓜表面上刻上一个嘲讽的脸面,用以嘲笑鬼魂。传说因为首先用南瓜的是一位爱尔兰人Jack,所以人们又将鬼脸南瓜灯叫做Jack-O-Lantern.

Ss:(Repeat “Jack-O-Lantern” several times)

3.T: (Show an object.)What’s this in English?

S: It’s a mask.

Ss:Learn: “mask”

T: Look, here are some masks.
(Show the masks)It’s a dog /tiger/ pig mask.

4.Say a rhyme(P/37 Part H of Unit 4)
T: Please listen to a rhyme.
Ss:Listen and say the rhyme.
Ss:Learn: “if”

Step 3:Presentation

1. 学习句型Do you like…?Yes,I do./No,I don't.

(1)T:师出示masks 时,问学生 Do you like masks?
S:Yes,I do.
T:Do you like pumpkin lantern

S:Yes,I do.I like pumpkin lanterns.

(2) Practice in pairs.

2. 学习Let's buy… 的句型及其回答
当学生操练I like pumpkin lanterns. 时师说OK.Let's buy a pumpkin and some candles.  
Ss:学说这个句子,鼓励用不同句子回答。

3. 学习句型What do we need? We need …

(1)T: If tomorrow we’ll have a Halloween party. Let's buy things for it. What do we need? Please discuss in groups. (eg:We need some masks,some chocolate,some flowers,a pumpkin,a vase and some candles.)

 Ss:Learn: “thing” “buy things for…” “need”
T:Show a picture of a vase.

Ss: Learn: “vase”

(2) Practice in pairs.

4. 出示课文A的挂图,请学生尝试谈论图片。

Eg:Who’s that boy? He’s Ron.He's Ben's brother.
Where are Ben and his family? They are in the sitting-room.
What would they like to do ?They would like to buy things for a Halloween party.

Step 4:Consolidation
如果明天是万圣节,四人小组讨论万圣节的准备工作。
Step 5: Introduce other informations about Halloween.

万圣节的游戏:这一天不论大人或小孩,都可以尽其所能的作怪,而不会招致异样的眼光。大部份的家庭会在院子里摆上几棵南瓜或是和真人一般高的稻草人,并且在窗户上装饰小小的南瓜灯或是挂上一副骷髅;有些人也会在前门上方挂些蜘蛛网。爱热闹或是有年轻人在家的家庭則会举办化妆舞会,或是将家里装饰成鬼屋!    

万圣节的打扮:万圣节的装饰多以桔色和黑色为主。黑色代表像黑貓、蜘蛛和巫婆,桔色代表像南瓜燈 (Jack-O‘-Lantern) 等等,都是常见的万圣节象征。另外还有各式面目狰狞的鬼怪和骷髅等等。不过小朋友和大人的万圣节服裝,除了这些较为可怕的打扮之外,也有很多其他的选择,可以打扮成美丽的模样或外星人的模样,总之每年到了万圣节前,就有很多人在伤脑筋要打扮成什么模样,商店也会陈列出许多服裝和化妆材料供顾客选择。

万圣节的食物:商店在万圣节前,除了会陈列万圣节服裝之外,在商店里也可以看到成堆的大小南瓜,和各式节日特別包裝的糖果。每年秋天是南瓜收成的季节,因此南瓜在年底的节日中,可是重要的主角之一哦!许多人会准备大量的糖果,等万圣节前夕小朋友来敲门索糖時,放在小朋友的提篮或袋子中。一般超市或糕饼铺,也会为了万圣节推出饼干和蛋糕,一盒盒的桔色的南瓜外形饼干是大家在万圣节派对中,最常选择的点心之一。

現今的万圣节:今天,在美国万圣节是深受孩子们喜爱的节日。他们在這一天穿戴看起來像骷髅或鬼的面具,或裝扮着海盜、仙女等奇装异服, 提着南瓜灯笼,在大街小巷挨家挨户地敲门玩 "Trick or Treat"(要嘛!招待我,不然我就  给您好戏看 )的游戏。大人们通常把家中預 备好的糖果、饼干或水果分给来访的小朋 友,如果大人不给任何東西,小孩们还真的会玩起把戏來捉弄大人喔!
